Print Spooler Error 1053 – Instructions To Fix It

Error Description:

1) When you go into “Control Panel”, the printer is gone (no printers are listed).
2) When you try to use the “Add Printer” wizard you get an error: “Operation could not be completed”.
3) When you try to start the print spooler service, it gives you “Error 1053″:

“The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely manner (fashion)”

Possible reasons:

1) Spooler files corruption
2) Dependency service failed to start
2) Spooler subsystem malfunction

Steps To Fix Print Spooler Error 1053:

Windows XP

1) Put your XP CD in the CD Drive.

2) Start > Run > EXPAND /r “TheCDDriveLetter”\i386\SPOOLSV.EX_ C:\Windows\System32

3) Start > Run SPOOLSV.EXE /install

4) Click on “Start” > “Run” and type in “cmd” without quotes.

5) Press “Enter” button.

6) In opened black window type in: “sc config spooler depend= rpcss” without quotes and press “Enter”.

7) Then type in: “net start spooler” without quotes and press “Enter”.

8) Or download and run Printer Spooler Fix Wizard.

9) Install latest printer drivers downloaded from vendors website.

Windows Vista/Windows 7

1) Click on “Start” > and in “Search field” type in “cmd” without quotes.

2) Right-click on black icon that will show in the result and choose “Run as Administrator”.

3) In opened black window type in: “sfc /scannow” without quotes and press “Enter”

4) Wait until the scan will finish

5) Then type in: “sc config spooler depend= rpcss” without quotes and press “Enter”

6) Or download and run Printer Spooler Fix Wizard.

7) Install latest printer drivers downloaded from vendors website.
